Eoghan was born in 0380. Eoghan's father was Niall mac Eochaid and his mother was Rignach ingen Meadaib. His paternal grandparents were Eochaid mac Muiredach and Cairenn ingen Scal. He was an only child. He died at the age of 85 in 0465. He was buried in Uisce Chain,Inis Eoghain,Ireland.General Notes

Supposedly died of grief for his brother Conall Gulbain. He is the founder of the clan Cenel Eoghain. He established his kingdom in Innishowen, centered at Aileach; he was baptised by St. Patrick along with the rest of his family in 432.
