Joseph Young was born on July 14th, 1842 in Henry Co,Missouri. Joseph Young's father was Jacob Shults and his mother was Mary Polly Young. He had a brother and four sisters, named Francis Marion, Rachel Rowland, Roseanna, Malinda Jane and Polly Ann. He was the youngest of the six children.
