Marvin Jesse's father was David Jessie Mills and his mother was Sally Patience Wallis. He had a brother named James Hadley.

They had three sons and seven daughters, named Nehemiah Francis, Silvester Jesse McNeil, Delmar John Wesley, Loretta Rose, Louella Mae, Bessie Arica Annetta, Emma Kathryn, Eula Sally Ann, Goldie Jane and Lillie Myrtle.
