William Rankin Guyn was born August 25, 1839 and is the second son of William and E. J. Long Guyn. The father is a native of Woodford County. The grandfather, Robert Guyn, was a native of Virginia. William R. Guyn was reared on the home farm and educated in his native county of Woodford. He was married, September 5, 1867, to S. C. Guyn, daughter of T. R. and Margaret Rennick Guyn. One child, Flora L., was born to this union. The mother and child are both now deceased. For his second wife, Mr. Guyn married, February 13, 1883, Miss Ida, daughter of J. H. and Belle Baxter, and to this union two children have been born: Wilgus H. and Elmer G. Mr. Guyn is a general superintendent of his father's grist-mill and general store in Clover Bottom Precinct. The mill was established in 1870 and the store close by in 1874. He is also owner of 175 acres of productive land which he keeps in a high state of cultivation.
