Frederick Caby enlisted April 30, 1864 at Pilot Knob, Missouri; and was mustered into service May 9, 1864, same place, as a private in Co. K, 3rd Regiment Missouri State Militia (Cavalry). He died in the Post Hospital, Ironton, Missouri, Sept. 9, 1864 of gunshot wounds of the lung, which he recieved in the Battle of Pilot KNob that was fought there on August 26th and 27th, 1864. His personal descriptions are recorded as follows: Age 36 years, , height 5 ft. 7 1/2 inches, and by occupation was a farmer in civilian life. Born in Hanover ; Germany.
