Living's father was John Barrett and his mother was Comfort Ruth "Fern" Yount. His paternal grandparents were August Theodore Barrett and Alma Jessie Stone; his maternal grandparents were Lee Yount and Sadie Jones. He had two brothers and a sister, named Living, Living and Living.-
