DEATH OF ROBERT BADGER

Robert Badger, Coroner of Shelby County, died at his residence at seven o'clock Friday night, in the seventy-fourth year of his age.  The cause of his death was pleuro-pneumonia.  A week ago last Thursday evening, while sitting in the grocery store of George C. Thacher, he complained of feeling cold, and went home shortly after with all the symptoms of a chill.  He grew rapidly worse, and two or three days ago became unconscious, in which condition he remained until his death.  He was not, as far as is known, a member of any church, but has been almost a regular attendant at the Methodist Church in this city for years.
He was a native of Pennsylvania, being born in that State July 16, 1810.  It is not known what year he came to this county, but it was about fifty years ago, he settling when he came in Marion, where his first wife, Mary Sleeth, to whom he was married in 1837, is buried, and where he lived for several years.  The funeral services were held at his late residence at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon, Rev. S. Tincher officiating, after which the remains were taken to Marion for interment, escorted by Kiowa Tribe No. 40  Improved Order of Red Men, of which order deceased was an honored member.
