John , Earl of Lincoln de la Pole 
John , Earl of Lincoln was born about 1462.1 John , Earl of Lincoln's father was John , 2nd Duke of Suffolk de la Pole and his mother was Margaret , Countess of Richmond Beaufort. His maternal grandparents were John (1st Duke of Somerset) Beaufort and Margaret de Beauchamp. He had a half-brother named Henry VII , King of England. John de la Pole, eldest son of John de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk, by the Lady Elizabeth Plantagenet, sister of Kings Edward IV and Richard III, was created, in the 7th year of the former monarch, his father being then living, Earl of Lincoln. Upon the accession of his uncle, Richard, his lordship obtained several important grants of land from the crown, and was soon afterwards appointed lord-lieutenant of Ireland. Firmly attached to the house of York, the earl could ill brook the triumph of King Henry VII, and, accordingly, upon the accession of that prince, removed to the court of his aunt, Margaret, Duchess of Burgundy, where he entered zealously into the affair of Lambert Simnel, in promotion of whose pretensions to the crown his lordship returned at the head of four thousand German soldier under the immediate command of Martin Swart, and having first landed in Ireland and proclaimed the pretender there, made a descent upon Lancashire, whence marching toward Newark-upon-Trent, co. Nottingham, he encountered the royal army at Stoke, 16 June, 1487, where he sustained a signal defeat and fell himself in the conflict. His lordship d. s. p., when his honours became extinct.
