Ernst II was born in 0828.¹   Ernst II's father was Ernst Von Nordgau and his mother was Fredeburg De Frommen.  His maternal grandfather was Louis De Frommen. He had a brother named Sieghard Of.  He was the older of the two children. He had two half-brothers named Ernst II von and Sieghard Graf von.¹
