His paternal grandparents were Gilbert "The Marshall" Fitz Robert and Miss De Venoix; his maternal grandparents were Walter FitzEdward de Salisbury de Evereux and Sibilla (Maud) de Chaworth. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Anselm, Henry, Margaret, Maud, Margaret and Dau. He died on May 14th, 1219 in Caversham Manor,England. 4th Earl of Pembroke.
Earl of Pembroke, Marshall of England, Crusader, Regent of England 1216-1219, called "The Great Knight".
His Earldom gave him large estates in Wales and Ireland. He remained true to King John through the Baron's Wars and was one of the King' Executors. He was succeeded in the Earldom by each of his five sons, all of whom died without children, but each of his five daughters married and left descendants.
He was a Crusader, the Third Earl of Pembroke, the King of Leinster (Ireland) and Regent of England from 1216 to 1219. He was called " The Great Knight".
