His paternal grandparents were William "The Conqueror" of England and Matilda (Maud) Countess (Queen Maud) Flanders [Queen Of Englan; his maternal grandparents were Rhys ap Tewdwr King of Deheubarth and Gwladus verch Rhiwallon. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, Henry and Maud of.
