Eberhard III was born in 1144 in Eberstein,Baden,Baden,Bavaria. Eberhard III's father was Count Eberhard of Eberstein. His paternal grandparents were Count Berthold III of Eberstein and Baroness Uta of Calw-Sindelfingen. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Count Albert of, Count Eberhard III of, Princess Ota of and Princess Haduwinde of. He was the oldest of the five children. He died before 1219.1
