John de was born about 1218 in Okehampton,Devon,England. John de's father was Robert de Courtenay Knight and his mother was Mary de Vernon de Reviers. His paternal grandparents were Renaud (Reginald) Seigneur Courtenay and Hawise (d'Ayncourt) de Curcy; his maternal grandparents were William De Revers de Vernon 5th Earl of Devon and Countess Mabel (Maud,Mabirie) de Beaumont. He was an only child. He died on May 3rd, 1274 in Ford Abbey,Devon,Eng. He was buried on May 5th, 1274 in Ford Abbey,Devonshire,England.General Notes
