John de was born about 1082 in of,Bramber,Sussex,England.  John de's father was William de Braose and his mother was Agnes de SAINT CLARE.  His maternal grandparents were Waldron de SAINT CLARE and Helena le Bon. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Philip de, William de, Adam de, Matilda, Miss de (Briguze) and Hortense de.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
