His paternal grandparents were Adalbert "The Victorious" Margrave Of Austria and Princess Orseolo Frowila; his maternal grandparents were Dedi II of Miessen, Margrave of the SAXON OSTMARK and Oda, Princess of LUSATIA. He had a brother and two sisters, named Adalbert I, Count of, Adelheid, Margravine of and Justizia, Margravine of. He was the oldest of the four children.
