Maud , Countess of Essex was born in 1177 in Mandeville,Warwickshire,England.1 Maud , Countess of Essex's father was Geoffrey FitzPiers De Mandeville and her mother was Beatrix de Say. Her paternal grandparents were Piers , Earl of Essex de Lutegareshale and Maud , Baroness Buckland de Mandeville; her maternal grandparents were William II de Say and Aufrica of Huntingdon. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Maud FitzGeoffrery and Saveric. She was the oldest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Hawise. She died at the age of 59 in 1236 in England.1 General Notes

Arnaud-Bellee, 1978: Henry married Maud (Mathilda, died 1236), daughter of Geoffrey (Geoffrey Fitz Piers de Mandavill), son of Pierre de Mandeville, earl of Essex. She was sister and heiress of William de Mandeville who died childless and was appointed the barony of Pleshey (Essex).
