Juan Ignacio was born in Alegria De Oria,España. Juan Ignacio's father was Joanes De La Carrera Lapaca and his mother was Francisca De Iturgoyen y Amasa. His paternal grandparents were Joannes De La Carrera Castillon and Leonor De Lapaca; his maternal grandparents were Juan De Iturgoyen and Bartolina De Amasa. He had a brother named Ignacio. He died on March 27th, 1682 in Santiago,Chile.
They had a son and three daughters, named Miguel, Petronila, Josefa and María.
