Mertie Belle Eads, 81, of Bloomington, died Thursday at her home.
Born Sept. 17, 1908, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of
Stokely Donald Waldrip and Leatha Pearl (Deckard) Waldrip.
She was a member of the Handy Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dillon Eads Jr. and Roberd D. Eads, both
of Bloomington; two daughter, Irene Stewart and Hilda Elkins, both of
Bloomington; a brother, Hanford Waldrip of Bloomington; five sisters,
Lela Frye, Geneva Cain, Margaret Jacobs and Betty Sowders, all of
Bloomington, and Bernice Stephens of Daleville; 11 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillon Eads, who died in
1974; one son, Donald Eads, three brothers, Frank Waldrip, Noble Waldrip
and Russell Waldrip; one sister, Ruby Walden; and one grandson, Samuel
Eads.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Allen Funeral Home chapel
with the Rev. David Butcher, Fred Edwards and Fred Stanger officiating.
Friends may call 2 - 9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. until services
Saturday at the funeral home.
