Samuel was born in 1866.  Samuel's father was James M. Snoddy and his mother was Margaret L. Payne.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Snoddy and Jane Shields. He had two sisters named Sarah A. and Cora I..  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 24 in 1890 in Monroe County, Indiana.  He was buried in Shield's Cemetery, Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.
