WILLIAM and ALMIRA JEAN PROW
William Prow was born February 28, 1832, and died September 3, 1907.
He was the son of John and Elizabeth Richards Prow, early settlers of
Washington County, Indiana. William was the great-grandson of Christian
Prow, Sr., who settled in Washington Couty before Indiana became a
state. William was much like his forefathers, who served his country
with pride and honor.
Almira Prow was born September 14, 1840, and died January 13, 1902.
She was the daughter of Edmund and Lucinda Speaks Jean, granddaughter of
Welsey R. and Mary Goode Jean, early settlers of Brown Township,
Washington County, and founders of the Cave Cemetery there, in whick they
are buried.
William spent most of his young life near his homeplace of
Prowsville, Indiana. Willaim married Almira Jean August 12, 1856, near
Salem. After the Civil War, William and Almira moved to Ellettsville,
about 1875, to set up housekeeping and raise their
