Joseph was born on April 23rd, 1807 in Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky. Joseph's father was James Masterson and his mother was Margaret Wymore. His paternal grandparents were Edward, Jr Masterson and Mary Coleman; his maternal grandfather was John Wymore. He had nine brothers and four sisters, named William, John, James, Robert, Richard, Caleb, Lovett, Edward, Moses, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary and Margaret (Peggy). He died after 1838 in Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky.-
