Bessie Marie was born on February 3rd, 1898. Bessie Marie's father was William Kenner (Buck) Finchum and her mother was Laura Belle Whitaker. Her paternal grandparents were William Riley Finchum and Malinda J. Rogers; her maternal grandparents were Newton J. Whitaker and Sarah Ann Hamilton. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Cecil Seaton, William Edgar, Luther Ezra, Floyd Henry, Clifford Emerson, Maude A. and Violet Lorena. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
