Josiah C. was born in 1827 in ,Marion,Tn. Josiah C.'s father was George McNew and his mother was Sarah Jackson. His paternal grandparents were Shadrack McNew and Mrs. Shadrack McNew; his maternal grandparents were Churchwell JACKSON and Mrs. Churchwell Jackson. He had three brothers named Churchwell, Henry and Shadrack. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 37 on August 3rd, 1864 in Civil War,,Ga.General Notes
