Elizabeth Ann was born in 1851 in Putnam Co,WV. Elizabeth Ann's father was Achilles Hix and her mother was Harriet Jenkins. Her paternal grandparents were William Hix and Hannah Garrad\Jarrett. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Bryant D., Squire, Akellis Calvin, Mason, William C., Amanda, Calledonia, Harriet R. and Roxalena. She had a half-sister named Delila.
