Henry was born in 1761 in ,York,Pa. Henry's father was Peter DEARDORFF and his mother was Christina Anna SWYER. His paternal grandparents were Anthony DIERDORFF III and Anna Maria YAGER. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named John, Peter, Jacob, Samuel, Susanna, Salome, Christena, Elizabeth, Catherine, Rebeckah, Mary and Anna. He was the oldest of the thirteen children.-
