John was born about 1720. John's father was George Bentley and his mother was Ruth Barber. His paternal grandparents were William Bentley and Elizabeth Gardiner; his maternal grandparents were Moses Barber and Susan Waite. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Caleb, Ezekial, George, Abigail, Ruth, Elizabeth, Mary and Mercy. He died in 1807 in Stephentown,Renssclaer Co.,NY.-
