Minnie was born about 1871 in <, , Ms>.1 Minnie's father was Robert Norris Garland and her mother was Sarah Jane Roper. Her paternal grandparents were William D. Garland and Ann H. Norris; her maternal grandparents were John Roper and Judy Capel. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Pheland, Henry, James W., Geneva Ann Hudson, Lillie, James, Lillie Mae and Minnie Bell. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.General Notes
