Sheldon Peter was born in April 1870 in Walton,West Virginia.  Sheldon Peter's father was David Shafer and his mother was Naomi.  His paternal grandparents were John Shaver and Mary Cox.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 68 in 1938 in West Virginia.  He was buried in Lowry Cemetery,Roan County,West Virginia.
