Hugh was born in 1030 in Clermont,France.  Hugh's father was Renaud De Clermont and his mother was Ermengardis De Clermont.  His paternal grandfather was Hugh De Creil; his maternal grandfather was Count Baudouin Of Clermont I.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 71 in 1101.
