Sara was born in 1680.  Sara's father was Jan Wouterzen Den Bosch and her mother was Wyntje Rutgers.  Her paternal grandfather was Wouter Den Bosch; her maternal grandparents were Rutgert Wouters and Styntje Jacobs. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Rutger, Benjamin, Jacob, Jan, Cornelius, Judith, Styntje and Annetje.  She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
