James Clement notes:
William Clements, son of Benjamin Clements, of King William and Amelia Counties, Virginia, was granted 1227 acres of land Amelia County on the Appomattox River and Bent Run in the year 1726. His father (of Gloucester County in 1704) owned 600 acres of land in King William County, and William and his father are both mentioned in the Will of Edward Creffield of London in 1694. His will isdated Feburary 8, 1760. named all of his children in the Will, ,as well as his wife, Ann. William served as Presiding Justice of the Court of Amelia from 1742 to 1755, when he was appointed Sheriff.
