Ebenezer Nelms Ingram 
Ebenezer Nelms was born on December 12th, 1797.1 Ebenezer Nelms' father was Joseph Ingram and his mother was Winifred Nelms. His paternal grandparents were John Ingram and Hannah Pines; his maternal grandparents were Sr Nelms Presley and Elizabeth Routt. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named William, Jeremiah, Benjamin, Lemuel, Samuel P, Thomas, George W, Elizabeth and Hannah Pines. He died at the age of 90 on December 12th, 1887 in Anson County, North Carolina.1 General Notes

Ebenezer studied medicine for four years in New York City. When he returned to North Carolina, he learned his fiance had married another man. He withdrew from society and spent his time reading, leaving the management of his affairs to his slaves.
