John Clay 
John's father was John Clay. His paternal grandparents were Henry Clay and Mary Mitchell. He had two brothers and a sister, named Jeremiah, Edward and Fanny. He died before February 7th, 1782.1 General Notes

John Clay was the son of John Clay and (Mrs.) Mary Bass.
His Will is recorded in Hanover county, Virginia. There is a copy of it in The Clay Family. The title of Sir with his name is likely an honorary one conferred due to his profession as a minister.
John and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony about 1765.1 They had three sons and a daughter, named Porter, Henry, John and Betsy.

Porter was born in 1779.2 He died at the age of 71 in 1850. He was buried in Camden, , Arkansas.2 2
