Mary was born about 1784 in ,Goochland, Virginia.1 Mary's father was Joseph WOODSON and her mother was Mildred REDFORD. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph WOODSON and Elizabeth MATTOX. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Robert, William, Joseph, Milner, Edward, George, Frederick, Elizabeth and Sarah. She was the third youngest of the ten children. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Robert, John, Joseph, Mary, Judith and Sarah.-
