Ermengarde de was born about 0795 in of Alsace, France.1   Ermengarde de's father was Hugh II of Tours and her mother was Ava.  Her paternal grandparents were Luitfride II of Alsace and Hiltrude. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Luitfrid III Count Of Upper, Hugh of, Bertha of, Adela De and Adelaide de.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She was buried in Abbaye D'Erstein, Strasbourg, Alsace, France.1 1
