Richard TAYLOR 
Richard was born on April 12th, 1741 in ,Orange, Virginia, USA and his baptism took place in Grandson, Hancock, Lee, Sally.1 Richard's father was Richard TAYLOR and his mother was Dinah. His paternal grandparents were Richard Taylor and Jenet. He had nine brothers named Richard, Joseph, William, Charles, Hancock, Thomas, Joseph Zachary, Ezekiel and Zackery. He died at the age of 79 on January 10th, 1821 in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky. He was buried in January 1821 in National Cem., Louisville, Jefferson Co, Ky.1 1 General Notes

He and his brother Hancock Taylor together made the first journey down the Ohio and Mississip pi Rivers from what is now Pittsburgh to the mouth of the Mississippi, returning through th e unknown Indian Country over land in 1769.
**!NOTE: In 1784 Colonel Taylor sold his home "Hare Forrest" in Orange Co. Virginia and wenti ng exploring for a new home in the west. He left the family at the home of Col. Valentine Jo hnston, kinsman of his wife, in Barbourville, Virginia. Pres. Zachary Taylor was born there . Colonel Taylor returned soon and moved the family to Louisville, Ky.
