Canute II was born about 0995 in Denmark.1 Canute II's father was Sveyn I Haraldsson and his mother was Gunhilda of Poland. His paternal grandparents were Harald VII Bluetooth Gormsson and Gyrid Olafsson. He had a sister named Thyra. He had two half-sisters named Margaret and Svantoslava of Denmark.
