Thomas de was born in 1133 in Of, Fillongley, Warwickshire, England.1 Thomas de's father was Hugh HASTINGS and his mother was Erneburgh de FLAMVILLE. His paternal grandparents were Walter HASTINGS and Hawise; his maternal grandfather was Hugh ERNEBURGH. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Richard, Philip de and Milicent (Mahant) de. He was the third oldest of the five children.-
