William Giffard 
William was born about 1038 in Of, Longueville, Normandy, France.1 William's father was Walter GIFFARD and his mother was Agnes Ermentrude FLEITEL. His paternal grandparents were Osbert de Bolebec and Avelina de Crpon; his maternal grandparents were Gerald FLAITEL and Gerald FLAITEL. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Walter, Osborne (Osbert) (Gyffarde), Hugh, Rohese, Adelaide, Isabella Constance Catherine and Lora. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.-
