  Iowa, as a regulary ordained Deacon--sent out to places to preach in
  various counties in that area of Henry County, Iowa
  1839 July---Friday before first Saturday--Benj. Gholson, among other
  appointed by Big Creek Baptist Church as delegates to the
  Association--also appointed to go to Fairfield Church to serve the
  sacrament.
  1839 Aug. ---First Saturday--Brothers Gholson and Lyon to go to
  Fairfield regarding question by forming an Association in Iowa Territory.
  1839 Nov. ---First Saturday--Brethren Benj. Gholson and Wm H. Lyon to
  go to labour with Brother Willowford for disorderly conduct
  (intoxication).
  1840 Jan. ---First Saturday..Br. Gholson and Lyon failed in their duty and
  were forgiven.
  1840 Apr.---Br. Gholson, among others, appointed delegates to the
  convention.
  1840 May ---First Saturday--Benj. Gholson and others to help constitute
  a church near Trenton, Henry County, Iowa
