Jennie's father was Allen Burton Davis and her mother was Lilly Alice Coxsey. Her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Coxsey and Martha L. Barksdale. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Albert, Joseph Wilson, Lou, Dillie, Lillie, Rosa and Elsa.-
