Jacob was born in 1861.1 Jacob's father was Sterling Crowder and his mother was Margaret POWELL. His paternal grandparents were Burrell Crowder and Sarah Ann Sally Drye. He had a brother and three sisters, named Rueben H., Mary, Matilda and Permelia. He was the third oldest of the five children.
