John was born about 1640 in Elizabeth City Co., VA.1 John's father was William Armistead and his mother was Ann Ellis. His paternal grandparents were Anthony Armistead and Frances Thompson. He had a brother named Anthony. He was the older of the two children. He died in 1703.1 General Notes

1687; married WILLIAM CHURCHILL 1703; died 16 Nov
1716 at age 49.
iv. WILLIAM, b. 1671; m. ANNA LEE, daughter of HANCOCK
LEE and MARTHA BURWELL; died 13 Jun 1711.
He resided in Mathews Co., VA.
