Adelbert I was born about 0920.1 Adelbert I's father was Herbert II de Vermandois and his mother was Hildebrande de Neustria. His paternal grandparents were Herbert I DE Vermandois and Bertha de Morvois; his maternal grandparents were Robert I and Of Alsace Adelaide. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Herbert, Odo de, Robert de, Hugh de Rheims, Alix de, Sprota Adela de and Luitgarde of. He was the youngest of the eight children.1 General Notes
