David Scott was born on May 1st, 1835 in Highland Co., OH. David Scott's father was John Hamilton Jolly and his mother was Ellen Jane Linn. His maternal grandparents were Samuel Linn and Catharine Slaymaker. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Samuel Simeon, John Stuart, Robert Linn, Catherine Linn and Anna Marie.
