Flora's father was Robert Mitchell and her mother was Cynthia Ann Livesay. Her paternal grandparents were Sterling Mitchell and Clara Fletcher. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Luther, Gale, George, Leonard, Lonnie, Carrie, Lavinia and Sara.-
