Edward Mccall was born in 1840 in Near Paris, Bourbon, Kentucky. Edward Mccall's father was Matthew Current and his mother was Jane Wilson Call. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Current and Margaret Cole; his maternal grandparents were David Call and Margaret Wilson. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas Wilson, Matthew, Bourbon, Elmira, Ellen, Harriet Allen and Martha Jane. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
