James B was born on December 31st, 1906 in Texas.1   James B's father was Benjimin Franklin Welk and his mother was Louisa Minierva Whatley.  His paternal grandparents were ? Welk and Cynthia Granny ?. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George Lonzo, Willie, Addy, Mary and Minnie.  He died at the age of 79 in September 1986 in Denton County, Texas.1
