Dirk was born about 1172 in Oostvoorne, Zuid Holland, Netherlands.1   Dirk's father was Dirk van Voorne and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Hugo van Voorne and <Unknown>. He had two brothers named Hugo and Bartholomeus.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died on December 31st, 1228.1
