Aeldgyth, known as Swan Neck, was born in 1034 in Mercia, England.1   Swan Neck's father was Earl of Mercia, Earl of East Anglia Aelfgar (The Saxon) of Mercia III and her mother was Aelfgifu.  Her paternal grandparents were Leofric (The Great) Mercia III and Godgifu of Coventry; her maternal grandparents were King Ethelred (The Unready) of England II and Eadgyth. She had three brothers and a sister, named Aedwine, Morcar, Burgheard and Lucy. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Aeldred, Ealdulf and Ealdgyth.  She died at the age of 52 in 1086.2
